Hardware/Installation
Q. Where can I find instructions to connect the PoD to the TV?
A. You can find it in the Easy Set Up guide included in the kit.
Q. How do I connect the VuNow PoD to the Internet?
A. You could connect the VuNow PoD in one of two ways. Wired or wireless. For wired connection, connect your included Ethernet cable to a free port on the router. For wireless, connect the VuNow USB wireless adapter (optional) to the USB port of the PoD at the rear and follow the on-screen instructions or on the on screen menu select Settings-> Network-> run Wireless Wizard.
Q. What if I cannot see the VuNow user interface after I connect the PoD?
A. Make sure that the TV input is set to the port where the VuNow video cable (SD or HD) or HDMI (HD) is connected. Also for the HD PoD make sure that during set up, the HDMI cable was connected before the power cable.
Q. Why do the PoDs have two USB connectors?
A. One USB connector may be used for connecting the VuNow USB Wireless 802.11g adaptor. The second may be used for connecting an external USB storage device like a Flash drive or a hard drive (upto 500GB, FAT32 format).
Q. Which external wireless USB adapter does VuNow support?
A. Only the VuNow wireless 802.11g adapter. It can be ordered as an accessory from Versimo Networks’ website.
Q. Does the PoD have an internal hard drive for storage?
A. No. You could however connect an external USB hard drive through the USB 2.0 port at the rear of the PoD.
Q. How do I power cycle the PoD?
A. You could power cycle the PoD by pressing the Power button on the remote for 8 seconds oryou could disconnect the power adaptor input and reconnect after few seconds.
Network Connectivity
Q. How can I connect to the Internet?
A. You could connect directly with the included Ethernet cable to a free port on the router (802.11/g/n router) or wirelessly using the VuNow USB 802.11g adapter.
Q. What kind of Internet connection do you need?
A. VuNow requires a minimum of 768K bps for instant viewing.
Q. How do I determine my Internet connection speed?
A. Click the Settings menu on the Home page of the user interface. Select the Network Speed Test from the menu and follow the directions.
Q. What wireless security modes are supported?
A. Only WEP mode is supported at this time. WPA is not supported.
Q. Do I need a router and which one?
A router is needed when you want to connect more then one device (PC and VuNow PoD) to your Internet connection. Router will connect between your modem and VuNow PoD or PC. Most routers these days are the wireless type. This means you can place VuNow PoD in a different room from where your router is and connect wirelessly to your network by using the optional wireless USB adapter. Wireless routers recommended are of the 802.11g type from manufacturers such as Linksys or Netgear.
Q. I have a high speed DSL or cable modem that connects to my computer via USB. How can I add PoD to this setup?
A. The VuNow PoD requires a wired Ethernet connection to work. If you have a modem which only gives you one USB and one Ethernet connection, you will also need a router. The router lets you connect multiple devices to your Internet connection with ease.
Remote Control
Q. What kind of remote control does VuNow have?
A. The remote is a 17 button Infra Red (IR) remote.
Q. What do I do if my VuNow remote control is weak or not working?
A. Make sure that the remote is in line-of-sight with the PoD. It is possible that the battery of the remote is weak or dead. Try a new battery to see if this improves response to the remote. Make sure the LED lens side of the remote is facing the PoD.
Q. Can I power cycle the PoD with the remote?
A. Yes. Press the power button for 8 seconds.
Q. What does the Func (+/-) button do?
A. It serves two functions. While watching a video it allows you to zoom in and out with 3 different settings. It also allows you to page up and down during browsing of content.
YouTube
Q. I just uploaded a video to YouTube site. I can see it on the PC but I don’t see it on your box. Why?
A. Our box uses YouTube APIs to access the YouTube video database. YouTube first makes new videos available for only the PC. You will see the video on Verismo box 6 - 36 hours after it appears on the PC. This is true for any other device that integrates to the YouTube APIs.
Q. YouTube has added long form videos from CBS. I see them on the PC but not on Verismo box. Why?
A. It is our understanding that CBS has not allowed YouTube to publish their videos on any platform other than the PC. This is called syndication and as of now CBS has disabled syndication. Verismo box (and Apple TV) can only play syndicated videos and not all the videos. As soon as CBS allows syndication we will be able to play these videos. You may experience this with a few other content providers as well.
Q. How do I rate, bookmark, pause, download, delete, or find related videos when I am in YouTube?
A. Press the Menu key to see a list of all the available functions.
Q. Can I play the new YouTube HD videos on the PoD?
A. No. Not currently. You will be notified when this feature becomes available. |
